5 Feb 2009Yesterday was quite the food day for us in IT: Elph started posting about teas, Billie noshed on Askinosie chocolates, and I tasted Creamery cheeses with Goose Island beers. Josh from the Creamery was hosting Rob from Goose Island to plan an upcoming special dinner at the Roadhouse and invited Eric (Mail Order) and me to join.
The beers: Matilda, 312, Honker’s Ale, Nut Brown, IPA (the order pictured above). The cheeses: Bridgewater, Lincoln Log, Detroit St. Brick, Great Lakes Cheshire (and maybe Manchester?). All the pairings were enjoyable, some stood out more than others. My favorite was the Bridgewater with the Nut Brown – reminded me of salt & pepper peanuts and baseball. The 312 was a very interesting beer, its slight citrus taste really changed the flavor of the Lincoln Log, gave the cheese a bit of a fruit flavor. I’m looking forward to the final pairings Josh and Rob come up with for the dinner in March.
