16 Dec 2008Betty at Mail Order asked how she can email a text message. It’s pretty easy, IT has been doing it for a while, and most carriers provide the service – you just need to know the address conventions. We have a biz contract with Verizon, and a couple dozen AT&T users, so I knew those two, but Betty needed to text peeps on other networks. I came across this list and it has been most helpful. Every major carrier (and some I’ve never heard of) are listed, but here are the ones I was after:
AT&T: #@txt.att.net
Verizon Wireless: #@vtext.com
Nextel: #@messaging.nextel.com
Sprint: #@messaging.sprintpcs.com
T-Mobile USA: #@tmomail.net
EDIT: Use 10-digit phone number. The list above specifies it only for some carriers, but all accept 10-digit numbers when SMS-emailing; seems like best practice, IMO.

Very useful. Do you know if the addresses are the same for MMS as well?

Good questions. My guess is no, but it would be worth testing.
