For exchange archiving management I've been using a tool called <a href="http://www.scriptlogic.com/products/archive-manager" rel="nofollow">archive manager</a> for the last several weeks.

It keeps all e-mail messages and attachments in a central compressed repository.

It stores only a single copy of all messages and attachments and also includes the ability for exporting messages from pst files.
I've already noticed a significant reduction in space for storing e-mail messages.
